WHAT DID I'VE LEARNED FROM PREVIOUS BLOGGING EXPERIENCES

Before this "Project", I had a few previous blogging experiences that had an important role on my life, because they introduced me to this 'world of blogging' and made me learn from my own mistakes. Today I share with you a few things that I've learned from that experiences.

Antes deste "Project", eu tive algumas anteriores experiências no mundo dos blogs, que tiveram uma enorme importância na minha vida, porque me introduziram neste "mundo do blogging" e acabaram por me fazer crescer e aprender com os meus próprios erros. Hoje partilho convosco algumas das coisas que aprendi com essas experiências.

IT WON'T BE A SUCCESS OVERNIGHT AND IT MIGHT NEVER BE A SUCCESSFUL BLOG

NÃO VAI SER UM BLOG DE SUCESSO INSTANTÂNEO E PODERÁ NUNCA SE TORNAR NUM BLOG BEM SUCEDIDO 

One of the things that all bloggers should bear in mind, it's when they create a new blog, it might not become a successful blog. This thought will prevent a period of great concern when we start to realize that we do not have the number of visits that we wished we had or we do not have that many comments on our posts. However, we should not give up and work to make our blog become a successful one. Patient is clearly a word that should be on everybody's dictionary, because all the results take time [and blogs are not an exception].

Uma das coisas que todos os bloggers devem ter bem presente, aquando a criação de um novo blog é que este poderá não se tornar num blog bem sucedido. Este pensamento acaba por prevenir um período de grande inquietação, quando começarmos a perceber que não temos o número de visitas que desejaríamos ou que não temos comentários nos nossos posts. Contudo, há que não desanimar e trabalhar para que este se torne um blog de sucesso e ser-se paciente é claramente uma palavra que deveria fazer parte do dicionário de todas as pessoas, porque todos os resultados levam o seu tempo [e os blogs não são uma exceção].

DESIGN MATTERS

OS GRAFISMOS IMPORTAM.

The importance of the design on a blog should not be overlooked, because they have a key role in making your blog more attractive, but this will also give identity to your blog. For example, in this blog I use a rectangle around the blog titles and these little aspects will allow users to distinguish my blog from the others, because if they see a picture with these settings they will immediately link to my blog [at least I hope so]. And that's what you should make [if it is necessary] in your blogs, because that will give them an identity.

A importância dos grafismos num blog não deve ser menosprezada, isto porque estes têm um papel fulcral em tornar o teu blog mais atrativo, mas também este vai dar identidade ao teu blog. Por exemplo, neste blog eu uso um retângulo em torno dos títulos do blog e parecendo que não estes pequenos aspetos vão por permitir aos cibernautas distinguir o meu blog dos demais, porque se virem uma imagem com estas configurações vão imediatamente associar ao meu blog [ou assim espero]. E é isso que vocês devem adotar [no caso de ser necessário] nos vossos blogs, porque lhes irá dar identidade.

GARANTE QUE TU LERIAS O TEU PRÓPRIO BLOG

This is an advice that I've took from other blogging experiences, and that I will take with me forever, it is extremely important that you identify with your own blog. You must ensure that you would be a follower of your blog, if it was not yours. This is an important exercise of introspection that you have to do and that becomes decisive in the posts selection process - because sometimes we're not sure if we should make a post about this or that and if we do this exercise, this decision might be easier to make. Another thing you should ensure is that you have fun while you prepare texts for the blog, otherwise you have to stop and  rethink your decision of creating a blog and remember why did you begun.

Este é um conselho que retirei de anteriores experiências e que levarei para sempre comigo, é extremamente importante que tu te identifiques com o teu blog. Ou seja, tens de garantir que tu serias um seguidor do teu blog, se este não fosse teu. Isso é um importante exercício de introspecção que tu tens de fazer e que se torna decisivo no processo de seleção de posts - isto porque às vezes não temos a certeza se devemos fazer um post sobre isto ou aquilo e se fizermos este exercício, essa decisão pode surgir mais rapidamente. Outra coisa que deves garantir é que te divertes enquanto preparas textos para o blog, caso contrário, tens de parar e repensar bem a tua decisão de criares um blog e relembras-te do porquê de teres começado.

WHY DID I STARTED THIS BLOG?

Since I started college, teachers always advised me to create a blog - a space that would force me to write and it would allow me to create a portfolio. Like big procrastinator that I am, I waited four years until I decided that now was the right time. After sixteen years of study and work with deadlines, I wanna force myself to write every day. This blog is bilingual because it'll  allow me achieve a bigger ratio of readers, but also because I want to practice my English to avoid losing vocabulary (and other grammatical aspects). "The Project" will allow me to reconcile two dimensions that captivate me: writing and design.
The main goal and biggest challenge is to write 365 days, something that will require me extraordinary rigor and creativity - to create interesting posts daily. Furthermore, I want to explore different platforms during this first year: I want to do different things and I want to simultaneously surprise you. You who devote your precious time to read what this 'fool' has to say.

Desde que entrei na faculdade sempre me aconselharam a criação de um blog – um espaço que me obrigasse a escrever e que me iria permitir [de alguma forma] criar um portefólio. Eu como grande procrastinador que sou, deixei o tempo passar (4 anos, para ser preciso) até que me decidi que agora seria a altura certa. Após dezasseis anos de estudo e trabalhos com prazos estipulados, quero obrigar-me a escrever diariamente. Essa é uma das grandes razões pelas quais o blog é bilingue, porque desta forma poderá permitir-me alcançar uma maior mancha de leitores, mas também porque quero exercitar o meu inglês de uma forma contínua para não perder vocabulário (e outros aspetos gramaticais). O “The Project” vai permitir-me conciliar duas dimensões que me cativam: a escrita e o design. 

O objetivo e desafio é escrever durante 365 dias, algo que me vai exigir um extraordinário rigor e criatividade - para criar posts interessantes diariamente. Para além disso, quero explorar diferentes plataformas durante este primeiro ano, quero fazer coisas diferentes e quero ao mesmo tempo surpreender-vos. Vocês que dedicam o vosso precioso tempo a ler o que este 'palerma' tem para dizer.

WHO HELPED ME CREATE THE BLOG

Before creating this blog I had some experience with blogging, but I've never committed myself too much with them, none of them had the personal aspect that this has. And when did the idea of ​​creating "The Project" I had to be strict with myself so I scoured through what other bloggers were doing and how were doing. Antes de criar este blog eu tive algumas experiências com blogs, mas nunca me comprometi demasiado com os mesmos, nenhum teve o cariz pessoal que este tem. E aquando surgiu a ideia de criar o “The Project” tive de ser rigoroso e vasculhar o que os outros bloggers andavam a fazer e como andavam a fazer. Tal como o nome indica, I Can Build A Blog é o blog perfeito para visitar se criar um blog faz parte das tuas recentes ‘recogitações’. The Nectar Collective is a site that has tabs designed to tricks and tips for creating and maintaining blogs, as well as entrepreneur's tips- which may be useful to  understand the market of blogging.

The Nectar Collective é um site que tem abas destinadas a truques e dicas para a criação e manutenção de blogs, assim como dicas para negócios – o que pode ser útil para também compreender o mercado dos blogs.

The Function blog is dedicated to the world of photography and shares many advices on the search of 'stock' images which is something essential to the life of a blogger who does not have a good camera, for example.

O blog Function destina-se ao mundo da fotografia e por isso partilha muitos conselhos relativamente à busca de bancos de imagens, que as disponibilizam de forma gratuita, o que é algo essencial para a vida de um blogger que não tem uma boa câmara fotográfica, por exemplo.
