LET THEM BE

Artists are like any other professional. Their missions and motivations can and should differ. Some work for the love of art, others combine this love to the will to make their product a bestseller. It's not something immoral or illegal. It is a choice that is open to them and should not be hidden. Should not result in ostracism. Because at the end of the day, we all work for the money. Because we are hostages of it. We need it to subsist. So why should we blame those who work for the money? Why should we censor who creates art and who enjoy that art?

Now I do not doubt that exists more musical [or literary or film or any other art form] genres that skin tones. And every day we are amazed with new sub-genres of various forms of arts emerge and new neologisms that coalesce two or more artistic terms. There is public for all. All tastes are satisfied. And those are not satisfied are free to make use of their creativity and create your own artwork. So, if there is public, if there are people who are devotees to these artists, it is because they have quality. A debatable quality, you might say. But what is art if not a debatable activity?

Os artistas são como outro qualquer profissional. E por isso, as suas missões e motivações podem e devem diferir. Uns trabalham pelo amor à arte, outros aliam esse amor à vontade de fazer com que o seu produto resulte diante das massas e por isso venda. Não é algo imoral ou ilegal. É uma escolha que lhes é permitida e não deve ser ocultada. Não deve resultar em ostracização. Até porque no final do dia, todos trabalhamos pelo dinheiro. Porque somos reféns deste. Porque precisamos deste para subsistir. Por isso, porque devemos censurar quem trabalha por ele?  Porque havemos de censurar quem cria e quem fruí da obra de arte?

Atualmente, não duvido da existência de mais géneros musicais [ou literários ou cinematográficos ou de qualquer outra forma artística] que tonalidades de pele. E todos os dias somos assombrados como novos sub-géneros das mais diversas formas de artes e novos neologismos que aglutinam dois ou mais termos artísticos. Há público para todos. Todos os gostos são saciados. E os que não são têm a liberdade de dar uso à sua criatividade e criar a sua própria arte. Por isso: se há público, se há pessoas que se tornar devotas desses artistas, é porque estes têm qualidade. Uma qualidade discutível, é certo. Mas o que é a arte se não uma atividade discutível?
