THE UNFORTUNATE REALITY OF DREAMING

Dreaming: the evolution's machine. An archaic force that allows progress. The evolution of society depends on our dreams and dreams of others. How many dreamers did received a high-pitched laugh right in their faces? And yet did not renounce its chimera and achieved it. The dream is associated with boldness, with restlessness, with rejection of comfort. And that's why it has an extraordinary resilience.

In the XXI century dreaming becomes a privilege - something restricted to only a few who are allowed to do it. My generation knows it. And we don't know it only from now. We grew elucidated with an uncertain future, which may be provided with all colors, but certainly will not be pink. Dreaming is censored by society - who will force your feet to touch the ground. But even ourselves have created a kind of self-censorship and we don't allow ourselves to dream - which will probably be a ploy that will allow us to refute the feel any pain. But the 'millennials' [or Y Generation or Peter Pan Generation] need to make their mark. We must allow ourselves to dream, because as Gedeão (a portuguese author) once wrote - "whenever a man dreams, the world jumps and advances."

Sonho: a máquina do progresso. Uma força arcaica que permite o avanço. A evolução da sociedade depende dos seus sonhos e dos sonhos de outrem. Quantos sonhadores não acolheram uma estridente gargalhada a dez centímetros da sua cara? E mesmo assim não renunciaram da sua quimera e alcançaram-na. O sonho está associado à ousadia, à inquietude, à rejeição do acomodo. E daí ter uma extraordinária resiliência.

Em pleno século XXI sonhar torna-se um privilégio – algo restrito que só a alguns é permitido. A minha geração sabe-o. E não o sabe de agora. Cresceu elucidada de um futuro incerto, que pode ser munido de todas as cores, mas certamente não será cor-de-rosa. Sonhar é nos censurado pela sociedade – que nos vai obrigando a fincar os pés no solo. Mas também nós próprios criámos uma espécie de autocensura e não nos permitimos sonhar – o que provavelmente será um estratagema que nos permitirá refutar a angústia. Mas os ‘millenials’ [ou a Geração Y ou a geração Peter Pan] precisam de deixar a sua marca. Temos de nos permitir a sonhar, pois tal como Gedeão um dia escreveu – “sempre que o homem sonha, o mundo pula e  avança”.
